Photography and Archive

KBr Barcelona Photo Center
Directed by Joan Boadas (Director of the Municipal Archive of Girona since February 1990), the cycle will feature Anne Cartier-Bresson, Sergi Griño, Míriam Díez Bosch, Lluís Muntada Vendrell, Josep Maria Fonalleras, María Luis Bellido Gant, Joan Fontcuberta, and Bernardo Riego Amézaga.

From their different professional fields, the participants will address the process of archive creation throughout history, the progressive consolidation of archives as a key part of heritage and cultural conservation, their adaptation to technological shifts, and the stringencies of commoditization and globalization… In sum, diverse and complementary voices that will strive two answer two questions: What do we choose to preserve? What falls into oblivion? These are essential issues at a time when images are produced in an unrestrained manner, while their consumption and preservation as a whole appear to be impossible.

The cycle will be held in person at KBr Fundación MAPFRE’s auditorium.

All lectures will be streamed live and will be available online subsequently.

New registrations will be attended up to 3 hours before the start of each session.
